Shakira the Great Grey Owl
Shakira is a stealthy predator who can catch her dinner running under 50cm of snow. She is a gentle giant with the largest facial disc of any owl.
This Owl costs approximately 100zl per month to feed and care for, by sponsoring her you provide enough food for a month. 130zl covers food + vitamin supplements, and 180zl covers everything we need to give her a comfortable life.



Great Grey Owl (Strix nebulosa)
Appearance
The Great Grey Owl is a soft feathered camouflage owl that lives in snowy conditions. It is one of the tallest owls by size but not by weight and has the largest facial disc of any owl which allows it to hear small mammals running under the snow.
Food
Predominantly, they hunt small mammals, such as voles, lemmings and mice which they can hear moving under 50cm of snow
Habitat
Great Grey Owls live in colder climatic conditions on the Eurasian continent and North America. The prefer the boreal forests and woodland areas which offer them plenty of food.
How long do they live?
Great Grey Owls are relatively long-lived, typically reaching 20 years in the wild and up to 50 years in captivity. So hopefully our owl will be around for you to see for most of our lifetimes.
